Homemade and natural remedies for headache

1.- Lemongrass tea

Lemongrass tea has several medicinal uses and one of them is that it helps relieve headaches. Simply prepare an infusion with a teaspoon of this tea per cup.

2.- Ice

This home remedy is very useful to remove the headache naturally (and economically!). Just pour 5 or 6 ice cubes in a bag that can be closed completely (so that the water does not leak when the ice melts) and cover it with a cloth. Apply it on the area that hurts. It is better if you lie in bed or are lying down and relaxed. At 20 minutes remove the ice and repeat again if necessary in another 20 minutes.

3.- Infusion of Chamomile

We already know that chamomile is one of the most used medicinal plants for its multiple properties. One of its therapeutic applications is to eliminate the headache, for this we will make an infusion with 3 tablespoons of dry chamomile per 500 ml. of water. Let stand 15 minutes, strain add a teaspoon of lemon juice and drink during the day.

4.- Artichoke or artichokes

If in your case the headaches are habitual, it is very important that you include as much as possible the artichokes or artichokes in your diet. Artichokes are very beneficial to eliminate headache because sometimes it has its origin in the liver.

5.- Massaging the area

Another home remedy to remove the headache is to massage the area of ​​the temples, over the eyes (eyebrows) and at the base of the nose. Make circular massages on this area regulating the pressure as you need more or less.

6.- Chamomile ice tea

Another way to use chamomile to remove the headache is to follow the steps in point 3 and let it cool completely, add 3 ice cubes, soak a cloth and apply on the eyelids for 20 minutes. Rest another 20 minutes and reapply 20 minutes by wetting it again in the tea and draining the excess.

Essential oils have many benefits that we can take advantage of to recover and maintain health. In this case, we can use lavender oil to remove the headache. Just add 4 drops to a tablespoon of olive oil, almond oil, argan oil and massage the base of the skull, behind the ears and the area of ​​the temples. You can also throw some drops on the pillow or even clothes.

8.- Apply local heat

Whether with an electric blanket, a hot water bottle or a hot water bath, the heat applied externally on the shoulders and neck is very relaxing and improves headaches.

9.- Alternating hot and cold water

Another natural remedy to fight the headache is to put your feet in a tub or container in which we will have added 1 tablespoon of mustard and 4 sea salt (dissolve it first in a glass of hot water). Pour half into a bowl of hot water and the other half into another bowl of cold water. Keep your feet in each bowl for 5 minutes and change to the other. Do it until the hot water has cooled, remember to always finish with your feet in the basin of cold water.

10.- Mint tea

Place a wet tea bag (in slightly warm water) of mint tea on each eyelid, lie down and relax in a room where you feel comfortable. If you do meditation or mindfulness, take advantage of the moment. Remove the mint bags at 10 minutes. You can set your alarm clock to sound at 10 minutes so you can relax as much as possible.

11.- Coffee

Coffee has the property of reducing inflammation, in this case that of the blood vessels of the brain, and this would help relieve headaches. Although if you normally consume coffee, it may not have as much effect as a person who does not drink coffee or occasionally.

12.- Olive oil

Not in vain is liquid gold called, and that is that olive oil contains an antioxidant that can combat headaches. Just taking two teaspoons of olive oil could be enough to eliminate the headache.

13.- Echinacea

Echinacea is a medicinal plant known to be widely used for flu, cold and catarrh symptoms, but this wonderful plant can also be effective against headaches. You can take it by preparing an echinacea tincture and always have it ready when you need it, or make an infusion of echinacea with one teaspoon of dried plant per 200 ml of hot water. Let it stand for 5 minutes, strain and drink.
